America’s New 'Dream Team'

Obama nominates Hagel & Brennan.jpg

Former Nebraska Senator Chuck Hagel was nominated Monday by President Obama to be Secretary of Defense. This is the same Senator Hagel who voted against the Iran-Libya sanctions; voted against designating Iran’s Revolutionary Guard as terrorists; blocked the Iran Sanctions Bill (in 2008); and refused to sign a letter to the EU designating Hezbollah as a terrorist group, to name but a few of Mr. Hagel's political 'accomplishments'.

Also nominated Monday was John Brennan, who President Obama has tapped to head the CIA. A few of Mr. Brennan’s more memorable comments include those about “al Quds” and “jihad” (here); Hezbollah “moderates” (here); decrying the "ignorant feelings" of Americans outraged at jihadi attacks on American soil (here); and of course his astute comment that a 20% terrorist recidivism rate (for released Gitmo detainees) is not that bad (here).

Lastly, let's not forget President Obama’s recent nominee for Secretary of State, i.e., Senator John Kerry. You know, the same John Kerry who fawned over Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad during a visit to Damascus, while making the prescient comment, “Syria is committed to achieving peace in the Middle East” (of course, that was said prior to the ongoing massacre of Syrian civilians currently being perpetrated by the Assad regime).

Yes indeed, that’s quite a national security Dream [read: Nightmare] Team President Obama has blessed us with. If these gentlemen are confirmed, the only thing we can say is: Gird your loins, folks, and get ready to rumble because we're in for a very bumpy ride over the next 4 years.
