The Great Pontificator-In-Chief

The great BS'er, er, Pontificator-In-Chief, President Barack Obama, was in Israel Thursday, lecturing Israelis about “peace” (see below).

Yep, you heard right. Speaking to Israeli college students – i.e., people who live under constant missile barrage from their friendly neighbors; have to serve in the military; live on a sliver of land surrounded by 22 hostile Arab/Islamic nations, whose main export to the world is terrorism & suicide-bombers; and are the descendants of 6 million Jews gassed & murdered in the Holocaust – Mr. Obama waxed poetic to these people about “peace.” 

Don’t know about you, folks, but we’d call that a whole lotta chutzpah.

Oh and btw, just as the great Pontificator-In-Chief was pontificating about peace to the ISRAELIS, the Palestinians showed their commitment to peace by lobbing a few rockets into southern Israel. 

No wonder the world doesn’t take us seriously today…

Obama Urges Israeli Public to Pursue Peace

JERUSALEM—President Barack Obama exhorted Israelis to come to terms with the Palestinians, following a visit to the West Bank on Thursday, in a public appeal for sacrifice in the name of peace.

"Given the march of technology, the only way to truly protect the Israeli people is through the absence of war," Mr. Obama told a large crowd of mostly young Israelis at the Jerusalem Convention Center. "Because no wall is high enough, and no Iron Dome is strong enough, to stop every enemy from inflicting harm."

The crowd repeatedly cheered Mr. Obama's calls for a Palestinian state and his observations that Palestinian and Israeli youth have the same dreams.

He described a meeting earlier in the day with a group of Palestinians between the ages of 15 and 22. "Talking to them, they weren't that different from my daughters," he said. "They weren't that different from your daughters or sons."

The purpose of his public address to Israelis became clear when he said that politicians must be pushed by constituents to seek peace.

"Political leaders will not take risks if the people do not demand that they do," he said. "You must create the change that you want to see."

The address contained the main peace message of Mr. Obama's trip. He presented no new plan or proposal for restarting talks in other appearances.

During his earlier stop in the West Bank, Mr. Obama said that continued Israeli settlement building in disputed territory doesn't advance the cause of peace. However, he stopped short of repeating his call from his first term for a building freeze as a precondition for reopening Israeli-Palestinian negotiations.

Mr. Obama visited the West Bank City of Ramallah for a meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, striking an optimistic tone about the possibility of peace. Mr. Obama said he had made clear to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a day earlier that the settlement activity on the occupied West Bank wasn't appropriate.

After meeting behind closed doors with Mr. Abbas, Mr. Obama reiterated his call for a two-state solution, saying the U.S. is deeply committed to the creation of an independent Palestinian state.

"If we can get direct negotiations started again, I believe that the shape of a potential deal is there," Mr. Obama said.

He added that Secretary of State John Kerry would spend time and energy trying to move the two sides closer to agreement. Mr. Obama didn't offer a specific plan for getting Israeli and Palestinian leaders back to the table. ...more here
