AS THE WORLD TURNS, and:

♦ al Qaeda & co. set up shop in Africa, and expand their influence and operations within Muslim Brotherhood-governed Egypt and neighboring Libya;

♦ our so-called friends, the Turks reportedly fund Jabhat al-Nusra, a terrorist group in Syria, which Turkey's Islamist Erdogan government is not only using against Assad, but also against Syrian Kurds; and

♦ a new IAEA report states that Iran has started installing “advanced” next-generation equipment at one of its main nuclear plants;

…what does our Commander-in-Chief do? He pivots away from the Middle East & South Asia to Asia-Pacific, of course.

IN ADDITION, as:

♦ Russia and China modernize or expand their nuclear arsenals;

♦ President Obama gets ready to deliver his State of the Union address on February 12th, two Russian nuclear-armed Tu-95 Bear H bombers, in a show of force, make an unusual long-range strike-simulation flight over the western Pacific island of Guam; and

♦ Chinese hackers hit nearly every Washington institution;

...what does our Commander-in-Chief do?

He gets ready to announce a further one-third cut in nuclear warheads in new talks with Russia, and plans in the months ahead to “continue to seek discussions with Russia on a step we have never taken before — reducing not only our strategic nuclear warheads, but also tactical weapons and warheads in reserve.”

So, folks, it appears America's national security/foreign policy today can be summed up in two words: Pivot & Cut, i.e., pivot away from growing threats & unilaterally disarm. Feeling safe yet?
