Sherlock Napolitano On The Case

Worried about terrorism? Well, don't be because Sherlock Napolitano is on the case!

During a visit to Qatar (a major banker/funder of terrorism), Homeland Security Secretary Janet Sherlock Napolitano had some profound revelations regarding the recent terrorist attacks in Egypt and Nigeria (see below):

  • "One thing I think it illustrates is that we live in a world where terrorism is part of the environment." [...thanks to funders like Qatar]
  • "It's something that we need to be thinking about, we need to be planning for, I always use the metaphor we need to be leaning forward not leaning back, and it also illustrates the international nature of terrorism. That it knows no bounds."

Tens years after 9/11 and countless terrorist attacks throughout the world, what can anyone say except, No s--t, Sherlock?!

She told Fox News Channel her department was monitoring both situations closely.

While visiting Qatar, Napolitano said there was no information at the moment to suggest any direct link between those attacks and anything that had occurred in the US, but added, "one thing I think it illustrates is that we live in a world where terrorism is part of the environment, unfortunately."

"It's something that we need to be thinking about, we need to be planning for, I always use the metaphor we need to be leaning forward not leaning back, and it also illustrates the international nature of terrorism. That it knows no bounds," she said.

The secretary added that the FBI was sending agents to assist with the Nigerian investigation, offering the bureau's expertise in evidence collection.

On Saturday, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak accused "foreign hands" of carrying out the deadly New Year's Day attack on a Christian church that killed 21 people and wounded 79 others. In a televised speech, Mubarak said, "It is a terrorist operation that is alien to us … All of Egypt is targeted. This blind terrorism does not differentiate between Copts and Muslims."

Earlier, Egypt's interior ministry confirmed the incident was probably carried out by a suicide attacker. A ministry statement said that after an examination of the scene, "it is probable that the bomb that exploded was carried by a suicide bomber who died among the crowd." The bomb was packed with pieces of metal to cause the maximum amount of harm, it added.

On New Year's Eve in the Nigerian capital Abuja a bomb ripped through a military barracks, killing four people and wounding a dozen others, in the second such attack in three months, an official said.

The bomb went off early in the evening at a market inside Abacha barracks, a popular spot for food and drink in the Nigerian capital on New Year's Eve, the military and civil chiefs said.
