Some Quick Un-PC Updates

Relatives of three U.S. citizens killed in drone strikes in Yemen last year, including radical Muslim cleric Anwar al-Awlaki, are suing the U.S. government for targeting the terrorism suspects "without due process."

The wrongful death lawsuit, filed on Wednesday by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and The Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR), claims that the killings of U.S. citizens al-Awlaki, his 16-year-old son Abdulrahman al-Awlaki and operative Samir Khan were unconstitutional. Khan was the publisher of al Qaeda’s terror magazine Inspire (story here).

MEMO to ACLU & CCR: Engaging in terrorism is unconstitutional. In the alternative, payback's a bummer!

According to a lawmaker briefed on the findings of a new report by former FBI Director William Webster about the 2009 Fort Hood massacre, the FBI was too concerned about political correctness and did not launch an investigation into a man who was later charged with killing 13 people at the Fort Hood military installation in Texas, despite significant warning signs that he was an Islamic extremist bent on killing civilians. An unclassified version of the report is expected to be released this week.

In emails to radical Muslim cleric Anwar al-Awlaki (the same one whose relatives are now suing the U.S. government for targeting him in a drone attack), Army Maj. Nidal Hasan expressed his support for suicide bombings and killing civilians (story here).

BESIDES the FBI, rotation of the planet and global warming, who/what is really to blame? Those who have elevated derrière-kissing (aka ‘political correctness’) to an art form and made it an integral part of U.S. national security/foreign policy.

A suicide bomber (with what appear to be a fake U.S. passport and driver's license) was the one who perpetrated Wednesday's terror attack against young Israeli tourists at the Burgas Airport in Bulgaria in which seven were killed, and scores wounded. The FBI, CIA and Israeli authorities are aiding the Bulgarians in investigating the bombing. US President Barack Obama strongly condemned the "barbaric" attack on Wednesday, offering to aid in the investigation and "bring to justice the perpetrators of this attack" (story here).

MEMO to PM Netanyahu: Make sure the FBI/CIA folk aiding in the investigation are the real thing, and not part of the GCTF, i.e., that faux global counterterrorism forum organized by the Obama administration.

[Oh, and don't take our word for it, but we think President Obama has also been "strongly condemning," for the past 16 months in fact, the barbaric attacks being perpetrated by the Syrian regime on its people.]

Recent satellite navigation jamming by North Korea’s military near the demilitarized zone and a report in a Chinese journal are raising new fears that Pyongyang is developing electromagnetic pulse (EMP) weapons (story here).

WHAT would an EMP attack look like? Ask those who attended NSR's June 2009 briefing on the ‘EMP Threat.’

On July 3rd, as Congress was out of session for Independence Day, the State Dept published a notice in the Federal Register that it has loosened all U.S. arms sales to Yemen, a state described by the 9/11 Commission as a “sanctuary for terrorists.”

One U.S. official opposed to the relaxation of arms exports controls called the decision “crazy.” “The effect of this rule is to permit State to approve arms exports to Yemen without referral up the chain for exceptions, as was the case since the 1990s for Yemen,” said the official. “State is now treating Yemen, a country in the 9/11 report called a ‘sanctuary for terrorists,’ just like it would treat Israel — or any other ally. They are nuts.” (Story here)

WE concur. On the crazy and nuts part, that is, not the “Israel or any other ally” part. If the State Dept were to treat Yemen as it does Israel (or any other close ally), chances are the restrictive defense trade rules would NOT have been relaxed so easily.

[p.s.Could someone please put a sign on the desks at State, reminding them of Abe Lincoln’s famous words, i.e., “A friend is one who has the same enemies as you have”?!]

Lastly, Russia and China vetoed a new U.N. Security Council resolution today (Thursday) that would have imposed new sanctions on the Syrian regime (story here).

SUFFICE it to say, we are shocked, shocked!
