Okay folks, I'll make it short & not-so-sweet today:

The Obama Administration has added Israel to the list of countries that support terrorism, while removing North Korea from the list (see here). 

The UN Office in Geneva has issued a press release announcing that North Korea has assumed the Presidency of the UN Conference on Disarmament (see here). 

The Obama Administration has opened formal contacts with the Muslim Brotherhood (see here).

Writer Aldous Huxley (author of the book "Brave New World") was right when he said: "Maybe this world is another planet's Hell."

You Can't Make This Stuff Up

Some tidbits from today:

In today's press conference on the "economy", President Obama was asked about Libya. "We've done exactly what I said we would do," said Obama, adding that "Muammar Gaddafi, who prior to Osama bin Laden was responsible for more American deaths than just about anybody on the planet" is now "pinned down and the noose is tightening around him."

Message to Mr. Obama: "we've done exactly what I said we would do" is not an end in itself. And if Muammar Gaddafi is public enemy #2 (second only to Osama bin Laden), then Muammar should be swimming with the fishes (and Osama), and not pinned down in Libya. "Hostilities" began over five months ago, and one of the perks of being a superpower is being able to get things done QUICKLY.

UK Foreign Secretary William Hague told the House of Commons today that Iran has "been carrying out covert ballistic missiles tests and rocket launches, including testing missiles capable of delivering a nuclear payload." So the loons in Iran have (or are on the verge of having) real nukes, and now missiles capable of actually delivering them?! For those who are worried about a radioactive smoke plume from the wildfires raging today near Los Alamos, NM (the site of our top nuclear-weapons laboratory), wait till you see the plumes after Iran makes a delivery or two!

"Glenn Beck is on the fringe," said US Rep. Nita Lowey (D-New York) today as she visited Israel's Knesset (Parliament), as part of the International Conference of Jewish Parliamentarians. "[Israel] is a free country, and people are free to invite whoever they want, but I don't understand why or wherefore someone would bring Glenn Beck to speak in the Knesset," added Lowey.

Message to Ms. Lowey: Well, maybe it's because there is no one, repeat, NO ONE, who has spoken out in support of Israel, or educated the public here about the existential threats Israel faces today, more than Glenn Beck. So while you may not appreciate it, the Israelis sure do, and that's really all that counts, right? (Also, Ms. Lowey, given our debt crisis, unemployment crisis, economic crisis, nuclear crisis, Libya/Afghanistan/Pakistan/Yemen/Iran crises, I don't understand why or wherefore someone would worry about Glenn Beck?!)

Message to the Israelis: Smile, be civil, be polite, and let it go in one ear and right out the other...

Selective Killing

According to Pajamas Media, conscientious objector status was recently granted to U.S. Army soldier, PFC Nasser Abdo, who refused to deploy to Afghanistan under the claim that Islamic law prevented him from killing other Muslims.

So it's okay to kill people, except if they're Muslim? Never mind that devout Muslims have been killing other Muslims for centuries now (not to mention non-Muslims, which of course is permitted under the Religion of Peace), or that Islamic law runs contrary to basic rules of civilized society. It seems that we, Americans, are just too afraid of our politically-correct shadows to stand up and say, sharia (Islamic) law runs contrary to everything we believe in, and we will not subordinate ourselves (or our laws) to it.

Is PFC Abdo a Conscientious Objector or a Conscientious Hypocrite? You decide, although our chattering-class would no doubt call him (another) "extremist distorting a religion that reaffirms peace, fairness, tolerance."

Us Regular-Folk Would Like To Know

The Heritage Foundation is right, Congress is indeed right to be angry and indeed has an obligation to speak up on Libya (see "A Showdown over the War in Libya").

But we'll leave the process to the Washingtonians. Us regular-folk would like to know:

• What in the world are we doing in Libya (and why's it taking so long)? Does this mean we're at war with Libya?

• Rumor has it we're surreptitiously bombing Yemen, as well. Does this mean we're at war with Yemen?

• Rumor also has it we've been sending drones and dropping bombs on Pakistan's tribal areas. Does this mean we're at war with Pakistan?

• Syria is deploying tanks into its cities to crush protests against Hillary Clinton's "reformer" friend (i.e., Syrian President Bashar al-Assad); thousands of Syrians are fleeing into Turkey (home of the not-so-peaceful Peace flotillas); and "mass graves" have been found in Syria. Does this mean we should be war with Syria? If not, why? Is the brutality of the Basher less than that of Qadhafi?

• We currently have lots of troops in Afghanistan (not to mention Iraq). Can we finally say we're at war with Afghanistan? When will we know if we've won that war? Whenever the mood strikes our Commander-in-Chief to yank our troops outta there?

• In Egypt, at least 7,000 civilians have been sentenced to prison by military courts since the ouster (with our assistance) of our longtime pal Hosni Mubarak. Are these arrests/prison sentences part of that delightful wave of change we've been calling the "Arab Spring"? You know, the one inspired by that guy in Tunisia, who torched himself?

• We hear the Palestinians (no, not the ones who live in, or make up most of Jordan; the ones in the so-called West Bank and Gaza) have "broken off" unity talks between hardline terrorist group, Hamas, and so-called moderate terrorist group, Fatah. Seems like they're having a tough time agreeing on who will lead the coalition of terrorists. (Rumor has it that current prime minister, Salam Fayyad, was bounced because he wasn't bloodthirsty enough for these gentle folk). Definitely not a nice bunch. So how come we're giving ultimatums to our ally, Israel?

• And speaking of throwing allies under the bus, we hear the Czech Republic is withdrawing from U.S. missile defense plans, because they're frustrated with the diminished role the U.S. has downgraded them to. Is this part of the Obama doctrine that calls for punishing our friends and rewarding our enemies, or the other Obama doctrine, i.e., the one that calls for "leading from behind" (aka the Horse's Ass doctrine)?

Defense Budget & Shrimp

Great questions by The Heritage Foundation (see "Ten Questions for Leon Panetta"), although we'd like to add one more for Messrs. Panetta and Obama:

Whereas government's #1 responsibility is to protect and defend its citizens from all enemies, foreign and domestic (i.e., keep us safe), can you think of anything else to cut besides our defense budget, like for example, the following items or programs:

• Testing the exercise ability of sick shrimp on a treadmill; [Tests show that like sick humans, they don't do so well...]

• The new fleet of government limousines, which grew by 73% during the first two years of the Obama administration;

• Funding Jello wrestling in the Antarctic;

• Digitizing Grateful Dead photographs;

• A laundry-folding robot; 

• $146 million annually in flight upgrades for federal employees who refuse to fly coach;

• Money for Alaska Airlines to paint a Chinook salmon on a Boeing 737;

• $1.8 million to help build a private golf course in Atlanta, Georgia;

• $3.9 million spent by the SEC to rearrange desks and offices at its Washington, D.C. headquarters;

• The Conservation Reserve program, which pays farmers $2 billion annually not to farm their land;

• $1.3 million/per month, which the National Institute of Health spends to rent a lab that it cannot use;

• $20 million for "commemoration of success" celebrations related to Iraq and Afghanistan;

• Swine waste management in North Carolina; [What about the swine waste management problem we've got in Washington DC?!]

• And the list goes on and on......

Memo to Messrs. Obama, Panetta, et al: Get rid of the sick shrimp, sick politicians, digital Grateful Dead photos and limos before you touch a penny of our defense budget, okay?!
