PANEL DISCUSSION:
As threats against the U.S. and its allies continue to grow in size, scope & nature, so do readiness problems across the various military services. Ten years of war, and major wear & tear on military equipment has left the U.S. military in dire need of modernization. And three rounds of defense cuts since 2009, including today’s sequester, are exacerbating the situation.

The U.S. military is the most trained, professional, and powerful fighting force in the world, but signs are it is on the path to becoming a "hollow" force, i.e., a force that lacks sufficient capabilities to field trained and ready forces, conduct current missions, meet security commitments, and prepare for future threats. A military lacking in these things is a military that cannot provide for the common defense.

Our distinguished guest panelists will discuss what a hollow force means for U.S. national security and what, if anything, can be done to prevent it.
