Welcome To Missile Town

Welcome to Missile Town. Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani made an inaugural visit on Tuesday to a brand new underground tunnel facility – the latest of 14 'underground missile towns' – and watched as a convoy of numerous trucks bearing recently tested nuclear-capable Emad ballistic missiles was transferred to the facility (see below).

How do we know? Iran’s state run PressTV as well as its semi-official Fars News Agency published new pictures and videos from Larijani's visit on Tuesday.

Of course the UN and Obama administration have been on top of these developments... or NOT?

Emad ballistic missiles were tested by Iran on October 10.

On December 15th, UN sanctions monitors said the Emad rocket launched in the test was capable of delivering a nuclear warhead, making it a violation of a UN Security Council resolution.

In response, President Obama threatened in late December to implement new sanctions on Iran's rocket program. A day later Iranian President Rouhani threatened that Tehran would accelerate the development of its arsenal. And a day after that, Obama reacted as he usually does by backing down and delaying the new sanctions.

But all will be fine, as we have the Iran Deal, right? That farcical deal between the P5+1 and Iran, in which the Obama administration will be releasing $150 BILLION to Iran, and the floodgate of European businesses were opened.

In return for what? Very little, and in any case, not anything the West could reliably monitor and ensure. In fact, Iran has been having a field day with the Iran deal (which, btw, it has yet to sign!). It does as it pleases – e.g., conducts ballistic missile tests; threatens Israel and the rest of the world with its incendiary rhetoric; colludes with Russia in Syria to take over the Middle East; arms Hezbollah in Lebanon and Al-Sabireen in Gaza so both could simultaneously attack Israel from the north and the south – and rubs the West's nose in it.

"If Iran cheats, we can catch them and we will," said Obama in August. Well, Iran's been cheating (and Obama knows that) and we've caught them again, so now what? Perhaps after his preoccupation with gun control (in the US) and closing GITMO, Mr. Obama will get around to noticing that little nuke problem he’s enabled over there in the Middle East.

The state run PressTV as well as the semi-official Iranian Fars News Agency on Tuesday published new images, showing a convoy of the recently tested nuclear-capable Emad ballistic missiles being transferred to a brand new underground tunnel facility.

Pictures in the Fars article show a convoy of numerous trucks bearing the massive missiles through a tunnel in the new "underground missile town," which the news site reported was visited on Tuesday by Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani. PressTV revealed video from the visit as well as pictures of Larijani.

In his inauguration visit Larijani promised the Islamic Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) that the parliament would greatly increase the budget for Iran's controversial missile program.

Emad ballistic missiles were tested by Iran on October 10.

A team of UN sanctions monitors said in a confidential report seen by Reuters on December 15 that the medium-range Emad rocket launched in the test is capable of delivering a nuclear warhead, making it a violation of a UN Security Council resolution.

In response, in late December US President Barack Obama threatened to implement new sanctions on Iran's rocket program. A day later Iranian President Hassan Rouhani threatened that Tehran would accelerate the development of its arsenal, and a day after that Obama backed down and delayed the new sanctions.

14 Underground Missile Towns

The Fars report on Tuesday revealed that the "underground missile town" put on display in Larijani's visit is in fact the second such facility to be revealed in recent months.

In October another deep underground tunnel facility full of missiles and launchers was shown, just several days after the Emad test on October 10.

At the time, IRGC Brig. Gen. Hossein Salami said, "that was one of our oldest stockpiles and we haven’t yet shown our modern missile depots, where missiles with big cross sections have been stockpiled."

Then in November, the Iranian news site reports that Brig. Gen. Hassan Karimpour, a senior adviser to the IRGC Quds Force responsible for covert terror operations abroad, revealed just how extensive Iran's underground missile system is.

Karimpour said Iran has 14 missile depots ranging from 30 to 500 meters (100 to 1,640 feet) in depth, spread all around Iran and featuring automatic launchers.

He said that "any country that dares to attack Iran will be riddled with missiles fired from these depots in large numbers automatically."
