ABOUT THE PANEL

Lieutenant General Thomas G. McInerney USAF (ret) served for 35 years as a pilot, commander, and Joint Force Commander in the U.S. Air Force, retiring from active military service as Asst. Vice Chief of Staff of the Air Force, as well as Director of the Defense Performance Review. A command pilot with more than 4,500 flying hours, including combat missions, Gen. McInerney served in numerous key Air Force assignments where he gained extensive military command and overseas experience.

Lt. Colonel Bill Cowan USMC (ret) is an internationally acknowledged expert in areas of terrorism, homeland security, intelligence, and military special operations. A retired Marine Corps Lt. Colonel, Cowan spent three-and-a-half years on combat assignments in Vietnam, served as senior operations officer and field operative for one of the Pentagon's most classified counterterrorist organizations, and was involved in numerous operations in the Middle East in response to terrorist incidents and the holding of Western hostages.

Captain Charles T. ("Chuck") Nash (ret) served for 25 years as an officer in the U.S. Navy, accumulating over 4,300 hours of flight time and 965 carrier landings on nine different aircraft carriers as a Naval Aviator. He served in a variety of command positions with Naval Operations at the Pentagon and U.S. Naval Forces Europe and has filled billets with U.S. and foreign special operations forces in Turkey, Northern Iraq and other international areas.

Hon. R. James Woolsey is former Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). Before joining Booz Allen Hamilton in July 2002 as a Vice President and Partner in the firm’s Global Resilience practice, Mr. Woolsey served in the U.S. Government on five different occasions where he held Presidential appointments in two Republican and two Democratic administrations.
